Tesla Model Y L launched in July 2025 in China with a longer wheelbase and a third row that could actually be used by adults. Unsurprisingly, it was a commercial success, and many in the US advocated for bringing it stateside. New reports indicate that Tesla will finally start sales of the Model Y L in the US this fall to fill the gap left by the defunct Model X.

   

When sales of Tesla EVs dropped like a falling rock last year, there was one bright spot: the longer wheelbase Model Y L, which debuted in July in China. The Model Y L was the perfect tool for the Chinese market, considering that locals prefer cars with large cabins and plenty of space in the rear. For the first time, Tesla could deliver such a car, thanks to the Model Y L.
