A Tesla Model Y crash on a Chinese highway took a cringe turn after a rival carmaker used the accident for publicity. The crash caused the Tesla to burst into flame, but thankfully, the driver was rescued by a fellow road user driving a Li Auto i6. Li Auto promptly issued a public statement commending its customer, while launching a nationwide search to find his identity.
Sadly, and sometimes tragically, car crashes are part of our lives. Most people simply ignore news about them, unless the number of victims is extraordinary or a public figure is involved. For others, car crashes are good news, though, as they offer the opportunity to make more money. These include lawyers and (sadly) the media, if the crash is newsworthy.
