As Independence Day lights up the sky once again, we’re pausing the fireworks and flipping the burgers to celebrate something every Spy treasures—the vehicles that have powered our greatest summer adventures. This year, we’re inviting all our Spies to open the vault of memories and recall every ride you’ve ever owned. From the shiny summer presents that appeared like magic in the driveway, to the hand-me-down beaters that taught you about oil changes and freedom, to the project cars, daily drivers, muscle machines, and family haulers that logged endless miles through the years.

Among them all, which one stands out as the most memorable and deeply loved—the single vehicle in which you experienced the 4th of July in a way that still gives you chills or makes you grin like a fool today?

To kick things off, we’ll share one legendary example from our own ranks. Agent 001 still swears his all-time favorite was his 1979 Jeep CJ-7 Renegade. In its day, that bright, lifted Jeep was the undisputed king of Sherkston Beach, Ontario, Canada. A short ride over the Peace Bridge from Buffalo, NY. Very few people had Jeeps back then—and even fewer had anything like the CJ-7—making it stand out like a beacon on the sand. What made it pure magic was that Sherkston allowed vehicles right on the beach. Agent 001 would roll the Renegade straight onto the sand, tires digging in just enough for traction, and the party would begin.

Molson Stock Ale flowed freely from the cooler, music cranked from the Jeep’s speakers, and bikinis seemed to circle the rig all afternoon as friends and strangers alike wanted rides, photos, or just a chance to climb aboard the king of the beach. Fireworks lit the horizon while the Jeep sat like a throne, American flags fluttering from the roll bar, the salty lake breeze mixing with exhaust and summer vibes. That CJ-7 wasn’t just transportation—it was the ultimate expression of freedom, adventure, and summer legend all wrapped in one rugged package. To this day, Agent 001 says nothing else has ever matched the pure joy and attention that Renegade delivered on those 4th of July beach runs at Sherkston.

Now it’s your turn, Spies.

Tell us about your unforgettable ride. Which vehicle from your past (or present) owns the crown for your best 4th of July memory? Share the make, model, year, and the full story behind it. What made that day special? Was it the open-road freedom, the people crammed inside laughing until dawn, a spontaneous road trip to catch distant fireworks, a memorable breakdown that turned into the best tale ever told, or the way the vehicle simply felt alive in the summer heat?

Maybe your story involves a classic Mustang roaring through town, a trusty pickup hauling the entire family to the lake, a vintage Corvette that turned heads at every stoplight, or even a humble hatchback that somehow became the heart of every celebration. We want the full picture—the sights, sounds, smells, the triumphs, and the hilarious mishaps.

Your stories will remind us all why we love these machines: they’re more than metal and rubber. They’re the vessels that carry our independence, our friendships, our wildest summer nights, and our most cherished memories of freedom.

Drop your tales in the comments, send them directly to us, or tag a fellow Spy to get them sharing too. The best submissions may get featured in an upcoming roundup so everyone can enjoy the nostalgia.

Fire up those memories, Spies. Which vehicle made your 4th of July legendary? We can’t wait to hear every rev, every laugh, and every firework-lit moment. Let the stories roll in!

And of course, Do NOT drink and drive! Have a safe and wonderful 4th!!
