Ford Recall Hybrid Explorer And Nautilus For Flaw That Basic Software Testing Should Have Uncovered

A great deal of hybrid crossovers from the Ford and Lincoln brands have been hit with a recall. Produced for the United States market for model years 2024 through 2027, these Explorer and Nautilus vehicles may exhibit a software error preventing the pedestrian alert system from doing its thing.
More specifically, the pedestrian warning sound may not be audible at speeds below 30 kilometers per hour (19 miles per hour) when operating in electric mode. This condition randomly occurs without any input from the driver. The pedestrian alert function is compromised by a software-only issue affecting the vehicle's digital signal processing module and the audio control module.
