Historically speaking, American carmakers set the standard when it comes to making pickup trucks. Far behind them come a few Japanese brands, and that’s about it, as the Europeans are not really into making such things (although they do buy them). But now comes a Chinese company with a platform that’s poised to take one big bite out of the European pickup segment.

       

It’s BYD I’m talking about, and the ride they’re throwing into the fight is the Shark. Sold as the Shark 6 in South America, Australia, and the Middle East for a couple of years now, the model is making its grand entrance into the Western world with a number of changes and such aplomb that the others will likely have to put up a big fight to hold their ground.
