Formula 1 cars have spent the last decade gradually turning into high-speed limousines. Despite the FIA’s recent attempts to mandate a “nimble car” concept for the 2026 regulations, the current hybrid challengers remain undeniably large, heavily reliant on massive fuel cells and bulky battery packs.
 
But it seems the governing body is finally ready to take drastic measures for the next era of the sport.
 
According to a breaking update from @wearetherace, the FIA is reportedly targeting a monumental 100kg weight reduction for the next set of regulations. To actually achieve a diet that extreme, they are seriously evaluating one of the most controversial mechanisms in F1 history: the return of mid-race refuelling.
