The second-largest manufacturer among the Detroit Big Three has filed a recall with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration covering nearly 388,000 units of the Ford Explorer and Lincoln Aviator. Filed under campaign number 26V451, this recall addresses a defect in the second-row seat mechanism that may cause the outboard seats to unexpectedly tip and slide forward when the vehicle is in motion.

      

No fewer than 387,911 units are potentially affected, split between 227,520 examples of the Explorer and 160,391 examples of the Aviator. Production dates range from October 19, 2018, through June 24, 2026, for model years 2020 through 2027. These US-market vehicles were produced at the Chicago facility in Illinois, with body panels from the Chicago Stamping Plant.
