Having entered its third generation three years ago, the Volkswagen Tiguan still hasn't revealed its performance intentions. Fresh spy photos offer a clear look at Volkswagen's next sporty crossover, one that is certain to borrow the 2.0-liter TSI and massive brakes of the 4MOTION-only Golf R.

      

Unlike the R-Line trim available on the 2026 model, this prototype is the go-faster specification. The biggest giveaway can be found out back, with the barely camouflaged test vehicle showing a Golf R-style quad exhaust. Larger brakes fore and aft framed by sportier wheels can also be seen, along with less ground clearance from the strut and multi-link suspension.
