The appeal of handing those long stretches over to the system, reducing fatigue and reclaiming time, outweighed the familiar comfort of their current vehicle.

These stories are becoming more common. People who once insisted they would always prefer the control and engagement of driving themselves are starting to lean the other way. Long commutes, stop-and-go traffic, and the growing reliability of supervised autonomy are changing the calculation. What once felt like a futuristic novelty is beginning to look like a quality-of-life upgrade.

Still, plenty of drivers remain firmly in the “I want to drive” camp. They value the skill, the awareness, and the simple pleasure of being in command. Others sit somewhere in the middle—curious about FSD but not yet ready to trust it with their daily miles.
