The new Mercedes-AMG GT 53 4-Door Coupe has launched as the entry-level model into the new EV flagship sedan family, rocking way less power than a GT 63 or even the GT 55 models.
The Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe, despite its name, is a five-door liftback that’s neither a coupe nor a sedan, and instead the executive car acts as the more practical version of the GT sports car from the Mercedes-AMG roster. It was introduced in 2018 as a riff off the Mercedes-AMG E 63 sedan, albeit with enhancements for better kinematics and a sportier feel.
The second-generation, launched earlier this year, rewrites the paradigm completely, keeping only the name in common with the previous iteration. Now the new Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe is a tri-motor all-electric model based on the new AMG.EA dedicated EV architecture and features three axial-flux motors and 800-volt technology for up to 600 kW of DC recharging power to replenish the 106-kWh lithium-ion battery pack.
