Whenever a new car comes around, we like to talk about how much horsepower it develops, the speeds it reaches, and the acceleration times. Most of the time, their braking systems are mentioned as a footnote at best, because no one really seems to care about that. That’s because humans take brakes for granted – as long as they’re there and they work, nobody cares about them.
But braking systems are important far beyond their ability to stop a car in its tracks. The better they are, the less brake dust they create, the less noise they make, and cheaper they are to maintain and swap. And when it comes to all of this, a new kind of tech developed by automotive supplier Schaeffler should be at the top of the list.
