The Swedish automaker Volvo Cars has applied the same recipe as on the compact XC60 and mid-size XC90 to the subcompact XC40 - allowing it to gain a new lease of life for the foreseeable future.

      

Believe it or not, but Volvo’s smallest crossover SUV, the XC40, has been around for nine years – it was launched in September 2017 as the new base high riding model. Over the years, it has had conventional gasoline and diesel engines, PHEV models, and fully electric versions. There were also derivatives, like the defunct C40 coupe SUV as well as the ongoing EX40 and EC40 all-electric variants.
