Toyota will deploy 400,000 robots in its factories in an attempt to modernize and ramp up its global operations, but also cut costs in the long run. For starters, the auto giant estimates the automation integration could cost $6.4 billion per year starting in 2028.

     

On paper, such a push toward automation sounds like a recipe for massive layoffs, enhancing the idea that the world is marching head-first and full speed ahead to a future in which robots will take our jobs.
