The more practical body style of the i3 is starting to look like a series-production longroof rather than a crude prototype. Snapped on the public roads around the Nurburgring, this test vehicle exposes a roof that runs much farther rearward.
Its rear doors feed into much larger quarter panels, and the greenhouse continues almost to the liftgate before dropping into a compact overhang. The result? A profile that stays relatively low for a wagon rather than adding the high-roof stance of a sport utility vehicle. That is the job of the iX3, whose Neue Klasse platform is obviously shared with the i3.
