Tesla's next Roadster is due to break cover on October 1, and a freshly published patent gives the clearest look yet at what might be hiding under its bodywork. The filing describes a two-piece active rear wing built to sit flush with the car when it is not needed.
The application, titled "Deployable and Active Rear Wing Assembly with Safety Features," surfaced through the US Patent and Trademark Office on September 24, 2026. It names David Lemire and James Michael Arthur Crook as inventors.
