Arnold Schwarzenegger is heading to a Los Angeles jury trial over a 2022 crash that plaintiff Cheryl Augustine says left her with permanent brain damage and lasting disability.?
The civil case against the actor and his production company, Oak Productions Inc., is scheduled to begin Oct. 12 at the Beverly Hills Courthouse. Schwarzenegger is expected to be the first witness after jury selection and opening statements. Court filings state he now admits he ran a red light while driving his SUV and caused the accident. The remaining fight is over damages.?
The collision occurred Jan. 21, 2022, at Sunset Boulevard and Allenford Avenue in Brentwood. Augustine alleges Schwarzenegger made a left turn against a red arrow in a GMC Yukon, striking her Toyota Prius and then becoming involved with two other vehicles. Her lawyers say she lost consciousness and suffered a traumatic brain injury that changed her personality, strained family relationships, and impaired her ability to work.?
Schwarzenegger disputes the extent of those claimed injuries. Augustine seeks compensation for medical care, lost earnings, vehicle damage, and other costs. A separate pretrial dispute concerns extra courtroom security after her attorney posted the date, time, and location of Schwarzenegger’s expected testimony. Trial is set before Judge Edward B. Moreton Jr.
