Volkswagen's core brand is recalling 22,524 units of the ID.4 in the United States of America. The high-voltage traction batteries in these vehicles may catch fire. Until the safety boffins decide on the remedy, customers must keep their vehicles charged at or below 80 percent.
Per the recall documentation published by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the recall covers 2023 through 2026 models produced between January 1, 2023, and February 1, 2025. Considering that Europe's largest automaker started building ID.4 vehicles in the USA back in July 2022, all of these zero-emission crossovers hail from the Chattanooga plant in Tennessee.
