Recently I visited an automobile dealership to look for a new car for myself. I did not identify myself as an automotive journalist. While I did not go in there to spy on them, I was so shocked by the actions of the salesperson who greeted me that I felt compelled to discuss this with my AutoMatters readers.

There appears to be a serious disconnect between the actions of some individual salespeople and the policies and training that the dealerships and manufacturers have worked hard to develop. You have every right to expect fair and reasonable treatment when you go car shopping. If you don't get it, bring it to the attention of a manager, look elsewhere or both.
