From the late fifties through the early eighties, Fiat had an official presence in the US, reaching a sales peak in 1979 at the time of the Iranian Oil Crisis, then left as quality issues and changing American tastes towards pickups and SUVs took hold. Now, with the Fiat 500, Fiat again returns to North America in the form of the Fiat 500, inspired by the 2004 Geneva Concept Car, the Trepiuno.
