After looking at the 2013 Lexus GS I am really struggling to see where the automaker is heading these days.  Yes the 2013 GS does look different than the outgoing model, but the question remains if this time they have taken the necessary strides to bring it to the forefront of the market.

The Detroit News goes into a bit more detail of the latest strategic moves:

"It's the first of many models that will change the game for Lexus," Templin said. The new GS has sportier performance than past versions and "is leading us into a whole new territory," he said.

Not bad if you really believe they are heading in a new direction but then again look at the basis of his comments:

The car has a 306-horsepower, V-6 engine, with optional "F Sport" high-performance and hybrid versions also due next year, he said.

Hmm, sounds a lot like the outgoing model. While the jury is still out on the GS you have to ask you just what Lexus really needs to do make THIS generation a contender a against it's hardcore rivals, Will they come ready to fight, or will they simply allow the competition to pounce on this model as well?
