Just as Toyota was touting a glitzy new deal with BMW for the future, the Japanese automaker was forced to recall a new batch of vehicles for sudden-acceleration risk.

The recall of about 154,000 2010-model Lexus RX 350 and RX 450h hybrid SUVs extends a 2009 recall for floor mats that can trap gas pedals. Toyota says the recall total consists of about 131,800 RX 350s, and 22,200 RX 450hs.

The company previously recalled 6.9 million vehicles for the possibility that floor mats could jam the gas pedal. Sseparately it recalled 2.1 million for a gas pedal mechanism that could stick and hold a pedal open after a driver lifted his or her foot.
