When any manufacturer says that they're going to be building only 100 units of something, it has to be special. Not just a little bit of trim here and there. It has to stand out and justify, in this case, it's $6,000 pricing premium over the standard vehicle.

Nissan has just announced that it will be producing 100 units of the GT-R "Midnight Opal." Though it will not boast any performance upgrades over the GT-R Premium model it is based on, you will get several special treats with the limited edition:

- "Midnight Opal" hand-applied paint job
- 10-spoke RAYS forged lightweight wheels
- Dry carbon fiber rear spoiler — similar to what's found on the GT-R Black and GT-R Track Edition
- Gold serialized plaque of authenticity in the engine bay

Though it may seem a bit extravagant to get a paint job, wheels, a rear spoiler and a plaque, you do have to recall that the paint is hand done and that likely takes 15 - 20 hours alone. Not to mention that rear spoiler probably is another couple of grand.

All-in-all I don't think it's such a bad deal if you want a GT-R that will beat your supercar-owning friends and do it in a more unique way straight from the factory.
