President Barack Obama pushed for more transportation spending on Wednesday. The president said 4,000 workers would be immediately furloughed without pay if the bill is not extended, and a significant delay could lead to 1 million workers losing their jobs over the next year.

"It's time to stop the political gamesmanship," Obama said. The president spoke Wednesday morning from the White House, flanked by representatives from labor, transportation and advocacy organizations.
