Dear 001,
Look what I just got emailed to me!
The new Alpina B7. The closest thing to an M7 you’ll find.
That model-designation hasn’t been used on a 7-series before. It is based on the BMW 745i which has a 4,4-litre V8 producing 333 bhp. The most important change Alpina have made to the engine is fitting a supercharger, which makes the B7 the first supercharged Alpina ever. It also makes it the most powerful to date. It produces 470 bhp and has a torque of 650 NM. The gearbox is a 6-speed automatic with Switch-Tronic. 0-100 km/h is passed after 5,5 seconds and the top speed will be more than 290 km/h. The wheels are 21" with 255/35 tires at front and 295/30 at rear. Behind them, Alpina have fitted larger brakes. The discs measure 374 mm at front and 370 mm at rear. The B7 will of course have other trademark Alpina changes such as new, more sporty, suspension set-up. The exterior changes include a new front spoiler and a new rear spoiler. The interior gets new instruments, a three-spoke steering-wheel and Alpina´s leather and wood. BMW´s top-of-the-line 7-series, the V12 equipped 760i/Li has 445 bhp and 600 NM. The B7 is more powerful and weighs around 150 kg less. Together with the other changes this makes the B7 much more of a drivers car than the 760i/Li. And of course, even more exclusive. The first customers will receive their cars in December.
