Ryan Newman is having a helluva week.

Not only was he moments away from winning the Daytona 500, he was also moments away from nearly losing his life. At the finish of the 2020 race, he was leading the pack when his race car was hit from behind. This led to Newman turning into the wall at speed. After impact, being hit by another vehicle and sent airborne, he landed shiny side down and slid across the finish line in a fury of sparks and flames.

It was a scary crash to witness and, frankly, I don't think many expected a positive outcome given the severity of the crash. Race technology certainly has come a long way.

Turns out that Newman walked out of the hospital with his two daughters today. Talk about a lucky guy.



NASCAR driver Ryan Newman walked out of hospital hand in hand with his two young daughters on Wednesday less than 48 hours after his 200mph Daytona 500 horror crash which left him serious injuries Monday night.

A smiling Newman had earlier posed in his hospital gown with his girls, with his team tweeting: 'The veteran driver is fully alert and walking around Halifax Medical Center. True to his jovial nature, he has also been joking around with staff, friends and family while spending time playing with his two daughters.' 

Newman was in the final lap of the Daytona 500, Roush Fenway Racing, when his car was hit, causing a fiery wreck. He had been hospitalized in Daytona Beach, Florida...
