Unionized workers from Hyundai Motor Co. plan to stage a mass demonstration in front of the company's Seoul headquarters tomorrow in protest against a lawsuit claiming compensation for losses caused by recent strikes.
The carmaker filed a 1 billion won ($1 million) lawsuit against the union and its 26 key members with the Ulsan District Court yesterday, blaming them for illegally stopping production lines, vandalism and violence against managers.
Hyundai Motor, which had previously paid employees fat bonuses despite frequent strikes, is shifting to an uncompromising stance, saying it "cannot tolerate any more."
