The 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N is the first electric N model, but its arrival may not signal a complete switch to electrification for the N brand just yet. Speaking with Till Wartenberg, Vice President and Head of N Brand, at the 2023 Los Angeles Auto Show, CarBuzz learned that Hyundai is still willing to produce what driving enthusiasts demand.

"Why did we choose the Ioniq 5 as an N version? It actually just happened by chance," Wartenberg joked. "It's a rather large car, but I believe we managed to put the N characteristics into it perfectly. We are leveraging the E-GMP platform with the Ioniq 5 N and anything that comes in the future because the brand can not stand alone on one EV. There has to be a portfolio of EV cars coming. There is going to be more cars coming that are electrified under the N brand."
