After launching the refreshed G80 in its home country, luxury carmaker Genesis is preparing an update to the Electrified G80, the fully electric variant of the executive sedan. The Electrified G80 only started sales in the US last year, but it's already heading for a redesign. Our photographers caught it in the long-wheelbase variant as Genesis tries to energize sales.

Hyundai spun off the Genesis brand as its luxury division in 2016 and expanded its model lineup to include gas-powered and electric vehicles. Although praised for its build quality and brand image, Genesis wasn't as popular in the US as Hyundai wanted it. Although the E-GMP-based GV60 has many qualities, many perceived it as a more expensive, awkward variant of the Hyundai Ioniq 5. The G80 executive sedan looks set to displace other luxury carmakers from the market. Still, its US sales have been lackluster at best, at less than 4,200 units in 2023.
