There’s a good chance the glorious turbocharged 1.6-liter, three-cylinder motor that does duty in the Toyota GR Corolla and GR Yaris may be transplanted into a more premium motorcar. Australian publication Drive reports that the compact Lexus LBX crossover will probably receive the G16E-GTS motor. Lexus Australia CEO John Pappas said the sporty LBX is "highly likely, but not confirmed" when asked whether the vehicle is production-ready.
 
Last year, Lexus previewed the Morizo RR Concept with a turbo three-pot, an eight-speed automatic transmission, and unique styling details. At the time, CarBuzz suggested that a G16E-GTS-powered compact Lexus could be just what the brand needs in order to attract a younger clientele to the brand.
