Jay Leno has one of the greatest classic car collections in the United States. And fortunately enough, he showcased most of it on his YouTube channel. But he also gets to drive other people's vehicles. Some are downright iconic, but he's also spending time in quirky cars some of us may never see in the "metal." The 1958 Berkeley is one of them.
Don't worry if you haven't heard about Berkeley Cars. This British company was rather tiny and disappeared after only five years on the market. Founded in 1956 in Biggleswade, England, it declared bankruptcy in 1960.
Berkeley Cars was a collaboration between Lawrence Bond and Berkeley Coachworks. Owned by Charles Panter, the latter was one of Europe's largest caravan manufacturers at the time. Lawrie Bond had already designed the Bond Minicar three-wheeler when Berkeley Cars was established.
