Mercedes will more than likely eschew a folding hardtop roof in favor of a lightweight softtop to better fit the SLR's performance image - and not add any more weight than necessary. Mercedes won't be changing the 5.5-liter supercharged V8, but it is unclear if the convertible will get the 650 horsepower version that powers the SLR 722 or the 626 horsepower version from the standard SLR.
