In early December 2025, Subaru went against its own grain by unveiling a new entry-level crossover EV called the Uncharted. While it looked like a modern Subaru, and like some of its other SUV models for that matter, the new model featured one crucial difference from its siblings:it was only available in front-wheel drive in base spec. this is a pretty much unheard of configuration for one of the Japanese brands' creations.
Indeed, the Uncharted is the first Subaru sold in the US to send its power through the front wheels in nearly three decades. This decision could prove critical to Subaru's chances of cutting it in a brave new world, even if the EV market is suffering some challenges at the moment.
