BMW's first-ever M3 with electric muscle won't play a recording of a gas-drinking powertrain through its speakers. As you can see and hear in the latest teaser about the iM3, a bespoke soundscape that combines authentic records of modern BMW M lumps with sounds generated by the electric powertrain itself.
In the order of displacement, the cars from which the German automaker created the foundation of this rather interesting soundtrack are the F82-chassis M4 GTS, E92-chassis M3 GTS, and the E64-chassis M6. In other words, the Munich-based manufacturer has isolated the low-end frequencies of six-, eight-, and ten-cylinder engines for the soundscape of the iM3.
