Maserati hasn't been doing well for the past few years. From a historical peak of approximately 51,500 deliveries in 2017, the Stellantis-controlled Modenese brand has fallen to a pitiful 7,900 sales in 2025. The strong and consistent decline is the result of mistakes that include a quick expansion with the wrong products for their respective segments.
Back when Fiat Chrysler Automobiles called the shots, the biggest mistake was growing Maserati from a niche luxury performance brand into a high-volume manufacturer. Although certain models created a sales boom, said models lacked the product depth of German rivals. Porsche comes to mind, which sold 279,449 vehicles in 2025.
