Volvo wants to energize the executive sedan and wagon segments in the US with two new electric vehicles planned to launch in 2028. The Swedish carmaker discontinued the S90 and V60 last year and decided not to launch the ES90 in the US. Meanwhile, the V60 wagon is only available as a crossoverish Cross Country variant.
 
Volvo was given a breath of fresh air after the US government agreed to let it import connected vehicles in the US, despite the predominantly Chinese ownership. The restriction introduced with the Connected Vehicle Rule has been a show-stopper for the sister brand Polestar. Polester is now packing its bags and will leave the US market after MY2026 vehicles end sales.
