While the expectation over the last few years was that electric vehicles would take over internal-combustion-engined machines before too long, that narrative has struggled to gain much traction in recent times. Rather than wiping fuel-burning powerplants off the face of the planet, the opposite has happened. Hybrid vehicles that combine the best of both worlds have become the dominant sellers for many brands.
 
This is bad news for auto manufacturers who put all their money on the EV revolution. For Stellantis, though, not going fully toward EVs looks like a genius move, at least for now.
