The automaker that made battery-electric vehicles cool has officially produced its 10 millionth BEV, crossing an unprecedented milestone at its assembly plant in Fremont. Tesla announced this moment via X, and Tesla is the very first automaker to cross the eight-figure production mark for battery-electric vehicles.
        
While Chinese giant BYD surpassed 10 million new energy vehicles in 2024, the rival's tally incorporates both plug-in hybrids and full-electric setups. Over at Tesla, its milestone figure consists entirely of battery-electric cars, sport utility vehicles, and trucks.
