Ford is moving to fill the hole left by the Escape, and the plan is an all-new budget SUV with a target price of $25,000. The model surfaced at a private dealer meeting in Las Vegas, sharing the room with the first prototype of Ford’s four-door Mustang Mach 4 and its reported hybrid V8. Ford expects the SUV to reach the road in 2029, with buyers choosing between gasoline and hybrid power.
The Blue Oval hasn’t published any teasers of the SUV, but those who attended the dealer event saw early mock-ups and prototype footage to give an idea of what to expect, reports Autonews. Ford executives cautioned that the designs weren’t locked in and were shown only to convey a general sense of size.
