Agent 00K's cameras caught the production-spec Genesis GV90 in the wild, and the results are… polarizing.

SPIED rolling along a California freeway near Edwards, this deep burgundy full-size SUV shows off its final sheet metal with zero camouflage. The dual chrome accent lines across the tailgate, the crisp “GENESIS” lettering, and those distinctive multi-spoke alloys leave no doubt: this is the real deal headed for showrooms.

Yet the overall silhouette is hard to ignore. From the rear three-quarter view the GV90 presents an almost perfectly rectangular profile—tall, upright rear glass, short rear overhang, and a high beltline that gives it more than a passing resemblance to a luxury van. The smooth, rounded edges and minimal creases only reinforce that boxy, people-mover vibe. While the design language is clearly premium (and the paint catches the light beautifully), one unavoidable critique stands out: it looks a lot like a van wearing an expensive suit.

We think this van-like stance is the key design flaw. Genesis is aiming for flagship presence and ultra-luxury comfort, but the upright, slab-sided shape risks reading as utilitarian rather than athletic or elegant. Still, seeing the production body in real sunlight and on real roads may shift perceptions—some details that looked awkward in studio renders now feel more cohesive and purposeful.

So what do you think, readers? Does this real-life spy photo make you like the GV90’s design more or less than the official concept images? And do you agree with us that one major shortcoming is how strongly it resembles a van? Drop your thoughts below—we want to hear them.
