In the a recent interview New VW Czar Martin Winterkorn stated VW will enter the 2009 model year with both a Hybrid Polo and Golf variants.

While details are still a bit sketchy, the interview indicated a full hybrid is on the horizon for not only for VW but Porsche as well to utilize in future models.
