Montreal, Quebec - As a society of consumers, we love our stuff. We especially love the latest gadgets, the smallest electronics and fastest most powerful computers. It is no secret; we feel the exact same way about our cars. Car manufacturers, as producers of some of the largest and most expensive consumable goods that 99% of us will ever buy, must be able to feed our needs.
General Motors has seen the light. In fact, the light is so bright now that, in my opinion, it is nearly impossible for GM to deter from the path they have undertaken. Crossovers are what we want at the moment. They are the hot ticket item. Pretty soon, we will all be driving one much like the minivans of the 80s and the SUVs of the 90s.
Posh Crossover
One if not the most attractive toy in the segment at the moment is GM’s trio: the GMC Acadia, Saturn Outlook and Buick Enclave. I have already given the Acadia the “Thumbs Up” following a few days behind the wheels of the macho member of the Trio. The Buick Enclave is the sophisticated and elegant one all draped in chrome and other such ornaments.

The Buick Enclave’s design is smoother and shapelier than that of the Outlook and Acadia. I cannot say that it is the best-looking however it is certainly the most distinguished. The idea of the dressed-up crossover carries on throughout the Enclave’s cabin. As lush and as plush as any Cadillac, the Buick is dressed to the gills, ready to take you to the opera or to the country house.
Lovely interior
Once again, much like the Acadia, the Enclave plays host to a logical and functional dash layout. There is a balanced mix of wood, polished aluminum and soft good quality plastics. The front seats are large, cushy and comfortable. The second and third rows offer up a generous amount of room; the actual benches are not as cozy as the front perches but are more than acceptable nonetheless. Storage spaces abound and the trunk is positively huge when the third row is stowed. Everywhere fit and finish is generally very good.
