New Mercedes-Benz C-Class Generation Kicks Off to a Great Start in Europe
• More than 60,000 customer orders from Western Europe since sales launch date
• Dealers indicate a huge demand for the vehicle following the first weekend of sales
Following the rave reviews of the new generation Mercedes-Benz C-Class in the automotive press, the vehicle has now met with a great response from customers as well. On the first weekend after sales kicked off in Western Europe, Dr. Joachim Schmidt, Executive Vice President Sales and Marketing, Mercedes Car Group, expressed his satisfaction with the positive results. “The new C-Class generation has enabled Mercedes-Benz to particularly attract young buyers,” said Schmidt. “This success is due primarily to the car’s more powerful appearance, more driving dynamics, and the enhanced value and quality of the interior.” Since the new C-Class was launched on February 9, 2004, incoming orders for over 60,000 units have been posted in Western Europe - an increase of approximately 30 percent over sales for the same period of 2003.
Demand has particularly increased in Germany, the largest C-Class market, where more than 25,000 orders have already been placed since the launch.
The market introduction of the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class in the United States is scheduled for May 1, 2004. Additional sales growth will be provided by the right-hand drive markets in the UK (station wagon and sports coupe beginning in May 2004; launch of sedan in July 2004) and Japan (from July 2004).
