New E-class sales not as good as hoped
Mercedes will begin to cut back dealer allocations
So you've seen or driven the new E-class and you like it but you don't love it.
Well, that is the conclusion most people are coming to regarding the new E.
Although sales have been good, they have not been great.
Dealers tell us that people aren't as struck by the new car, as they were when the previous E-class was introduced.
Hence dealers have quickly started to discount the cars to move steadily building inventory.
The other thing that has hurt them, is that Mercedes-Benz front-loaded the dealers with a lot of cars, in anticipation of a huge sales success and the buyers just aren't there.
Certainly, the economy has been a factor, but it is even starting to effect Southern California dealers, where normally there is NEVER a problem moving high end vehicles.
So what will Mercedes do?
Our Spies tell us they have notified dealers that they will be producing less cars and cutting allocations.
What does this mean to you and I?
Now is the time to cut the best deal on one of these while they still have lots in stock.
Dealers tell us there will be less of a discount when they run out of the current cars, because they will become harder to get and they will have to make more $'s per unit.
Our advice?
If you're going to buy one, get it after the first of the year (to save the luxury tax) but before the end of January.
