Audi's new A4 in 3.0TDI trim has earned huge praise from Autoexpress. In fact, Autoexpress liked the car so much that they gave it 5 stars. We all know how incredibly tough it is to earn 5 stars from Autoexpress. The only cars that come to mind are the Porsche 911 GT2 and GT3, the Audi R8 and a few other models that really set new standards for either performance, practicality or both.
The new A4 3.0 TDI offers a powerful V6 engine, which is enough to propel the car from 0-60 mph in 6.1 seconds. Although not faster than the BMW 335i, the Audi offers comfort and new features which the BMW does not.
The redesigned A4 has much better handling due to the lengthened wheelbase. The A4 is now larger than both the BMW 3-series and Mercedes C-class and roomier on the inside.
The A4 has extreme levels of grip thank to Audi's Quattro AWD and where the previous A4 would have been in a ditch, this new A4 has vastly improved composure and handling at the limit. The car is more engaging than the previous version and when you push it hard the car is actually fun to drive.
Most importantly, Audi offers a whole bunch of extras which are usually not found in this class. To name a few are ventilated seats, Audi's Lane Assist Warning System, BlindSpot indicater warning system and a backup camera for the tight corners.
With excellent fuel efficiency, extreme grip, hugely improved handling, much roomier interior and options that set it apart from some other models in this class...Audi's A4 3.0 TDI is a real winner.
Also, it is highly likely that this car will make it stateside to the U.S.
Audi needed to really improve the A4 if their plan to sell 1.5 million units by 2015 is a reality. After all, the A4 is the largest selling Audi model. It looks like Audi has done just that.
