Just when you thought the BMW X6 news was cooling down, these new photos surface of the BMW X6 Hybrid being tested. These photos first surfaced over at all things BMW or in other words: Bimmerpost.com. This photo shows probably some of the most hood bulge this side of the automotive world. Of course the production model itself will not have such an exaggerated hood structure.
The two-mode hybrid system in this BMW X6 test car first surfaced at the Frankfurt Auto Show in 2007.
From BMW:
The innovative two-mode active transmission allows variable power transmission via the
power split incorporating planetary gearsets. In addition, the active transmission incorporates
an electric drive system and enables the vehicle to drive at fixed transmission ratios within
one system. This combines the driving dynamics and efficiency of the combustion engine
and the electric drive system in an innovative, intelligent manner.
