Toyota's Lexus Tops U.K. Car Satisfaction Survey for a 5th Year

Toyota Motor Co.'s Lexus brand topped a U.K. car drivers' satisfaction survey for the fifth straight year as approval faded for General Motors Corp., Ford Motor Co. and Italy's Fiat SpA.

Volkswagen AG's Czech brand Skoda ranked second, followed by Honda Motor Co. and Toyota's namesake brand, according to the survey of British motorists by Oxford, England-based J.D. Power & Associates. Honda's Jazz subcompact car was the highest-ranking model for the second year in a row.

Asian models are gaining ground in Europe as they dominate satisfaction rankings, improve designs and offer more diesel- powered models with diesel engines. Of the top 20 models in the J.D. Power survey, 10 were from Japanese brands and two from South Korean companies.

``The Japanese are still strong, but there's more of a mix at the top than there used to be,'' said David Sargent, the head of J.D. Power's European operations, in an interview. ``This is the first time we've seen the Koreans in the top group.''
