After 45 years of association with the sport, Honda announced that 2008 will be their final season. Citing factors like the US sub-prime meltdown and the rapid decline of the automobile industry, Honda President and CEO Takeo Fukui confirmed Honda's exit in a press conference this morning.

Notable Honda F1 personalities have included Ayrton Senna, John Surtees, Jack Brabham, Jacques Villeneuve (under BAR Honda), Rubens Barrichello and ex-Ferrari technical director Ross Brawn.

In the F1 paddock, Honda has partnered with everyone from British American Racing to Mugen Motorsports, Lotus, and even McLaren.

As an engine supplier, Honda's blistering speed and reliability powered them to to a total of six Constructor champions, as well as five driver's titles between Ayrton Senna, Alain Prost and Nelson Piquet.
