The automaker said in an e-mail Friday it will voluntarily recall about about 300,000 2005 vehicles equipped with six-cylinder engines and automatic transmissions.
The recall is to fix a plug in the transmission that, if missing or improperly staked, could prevent the driver from putting the transmission into park. There have been no accidents or injuries due to this problem.
Vehicles include some Jeep Liberty, Chrysler 300, Dodge Magnum, Dodge Dakota, Mitsubishi Raider, Jeep Wrangler and Dodge Durango vehicles. Owners will be notified in October.
Also Friday, Chrysler said it will voluntarily recall about 283,000 2003-2005 Dodge Ram pickup trucks with diesel engines and automatic transmission to address inadvertent movement of the trucks.
