The latest improvement on the Ferrari 599, which is called the Handling Grand Turismo Evoluzione (HGTE), was initially unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show last March. The intention of the HGTE is to offer a sportier and more active driving experience.

Included in the technical modifications are a revised arrangement with stiffer springs and rear anti-roll bar together with a new calibration setting for the magnetorheological shock absorbers when the manettino is set to its sportier settings. The car’s center of gravity was lowered with the reduction in ride height. For better grip, the tires were optimized with special compounds. Also enhanced are the electronic components of the cars for improved response. Included in the enhancements are faster F1 gearbox when set in high-performance settings, new engine software strategy for improved accelerator response. The result is a sprint rate of 3.7 seconds from standstill to 100km/h and a new lap time of 1 min 26.5 seconds for the famous Ferrari Fiorano test track, which is about 1.5 seconds slower than the road-legal F430 Scuderia racecar, which is lighter and stiffer in contrast.
