According to the latest reports from Japan’s Best Car magazine we could see Mazda’s RX-7 concept in this year’s Tokyo Motor Show (TMS) beginning in October. Expected to go one step beyond the previous “Nagare” concepts, the RX-7 is said to showcase Mazda’s new design philosophy.

The new RX-7 may even soon replace the RX-8 as Mazda’s flagship rotary sports car. Holiday Auto reports that the new RX-7 (or RX-9 as Holiday Auto calls it) would go on sale in the first half of 2012, making the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show the obvious place for its debut. As rotary enthusiasts begin to wonder what’s next for Mazda once the RX-8 ends production, a revelation at this year’s TMS will surely heighten the RX-7 fever.
